What you need to know about us moving all .co.za domains to the EPP System
Reading the heading you may say “what?” and that is okay, it is not a process that will really affect your life or business in any way except for a couple of emails that you may receive, which you can safely ignore.
In a nutshell, Uniforum (the South African .co.za registry) is moving from one system of domain registration (legacy) to another (EPP – Extensible Provisioning Protocol). This move is in keeping with international standards which use an EPP code to register and transfer domains.
In the past, anyone that knew how to register a domain through Uniforum could. Now all registrations and transfers are handled through accredited registrars.
So how does this affect you?
In short, it doesn’t. You may receive an email saying that your domain is on hold for legacy transfer. You can safely ignore it, all the hard work is done on our side, you are simply receiving the email because you are listed as the domain owner and so are cc-ed in to all communication between the registrars and us.
An example of the email you may receive is

the Change.
(Auto-Reply means “reply to sender” – which is “ticketman@co.za”.)
How it works, The application will wait for 24 hours. After this time,
if there is at least one Accept and no Deny’s, the request will proceed.
Anything else will stop the request, eg one Deny – or no Accepts..
Please note that once the domain is transferred away from the legacy
registrar (UniForum) it cannot be transferred back.
